Amerang Castle
A courtyard of a classical building with an asymmetric membrane roof
“Amerang Castle” is located north of Lake Chiemsee in southern Germany. Its history can be traced back to the Middle Ages. Today it houses apartments, a hotel and a museum. Furtheremore, it is often used as an event venue.
The castle’s courtyard was fitted with a retractable roof to make it more suitable for events. To meet the unique shape of the courtyard the roof had to be adapted. The cable-supported system comprises several winches which move the flexible yet robust membrane over carriages and thereby open and close the roof.
